All business owners in Balanga City shall be required to have their business entities registered with the Balanga Business Directory or their business permit and its renewal will not be approved.
City Councilor Jovy Z. Banzon who sponsored the ordinance said that all businesses in Balanga City are mandated to register in the online City of Balanga Business Directory (website link: https://www.balanga.com.ph/). Details to be registered are business name, business address, and business mobile number.
Banzon said the mandatory registration will be facilitated by City Economic Investment and Development Office (CEIDO) through the partnership with Yoonet Philippines. Information will be extracted from the business registration– or new or renewal data.
“The undertaking of the local economic database in the Balanga Directory website exists through a memorandum of agreement with Yoonet Philippines, however, said registration of businesses is currently voluntary,” Banzon explained in the said ordinance.
Out of 3,793 businesses in the City, there are only 417 business establishments registered (per 2021 data), and many of these businesses were “surprised” when their supposedly public-made business data, such as business contact details, business addresses, and business names are being considered “private” and are protected by data privacy.
